Performance
trials
- Races – should be organized according to the assumptions elaborated by Bogfdan Ziętarski in 1926;
- selection for speed isn`t the main goal of Arabian horse breeding;
- Arabian horses should be raced as 3-y.o.and 4-y.o.
- as high percent of each age group, as possible, should be submitted to race trials;
- races for Arabian horses should be treated as health and stamina tests; that`s why shortening of distances should be avoided;
- entering the races by horses descending from sirelines and damlines recommended by the Program should be encouraged by adequate prize money.
- Alternative performance tests, as endurance races or equestrian competitions.
Implementation of the Program
- In those studs, what could make „banks of genes”, rotating groups of mares should be bred to stallions from the sirelines threatened by extinction, as: Bairactar DB, Krzyżyk DB, Ibrahim DB, Ilderim DB, Kuhailan Haifi DB, Kuhailan Afas DB, Koheilan Adjuze DB.
- To prevent too high inbreeding rate and excessive narrowing the gene pool, stallions from Saklawi I sireline should be used sparsely, for individual cases of mares with show predispositions.
